Do you customize the solution?
Yes, we customize all of our solutions. We take several factors into consideration – your skin type, hair color, eye color, and most importantly, what shade of tan you desire. With the Express solution, we customize the color tone and you have the opportunity to customize it’s intensity with your post session shower time – 1 hour for a light tan, 2-3 hours for a medium tan, and 4 hours for a dark tan. The bronzer layer will wash off with your first post tan shower. We have cool & warm undertone express formulas. Ask about doing 50/50 if you are fair- it’s a really nice blend of golden tan and a touch of a brown. Perfect for most fair tones that show pigment more then others.
Do I need to worry about orange tones or streaks?
Absolutely not! Our solution is made with the highest quality DHA that is derived from organic sugar beets and sugar cane instead of beta-carotene (carrot extract) This guarantees that your tan will be golden brown with that “just off the beach look”. Our solution is ECO-CERT organic DHA. In addition, we are highly experienced airbrush artists trained to avoid streaks and unevenness. We love to tan and do it all day. Your tan is perfectly applied or we don’t leave! After we leave it’s up to the client to stay away from water- it gets easier each time...it’s a lifestyle babe!
What is the Express solution?
The Express solution has been formulated to set faster and to allow for color development even after the initial shower (1-4 hours) and the bronzer layer has been washed off. Because of this, it is important to keep in mind that after you shower with the Express tan, you will feel quite a bit lighter due to the fact that the bronzer (used as a spray guide) will be gone and your tan will only be in the initial stages of development (full development takes 12-24 hours).
How should I prepare for my tan?
We strongly recommend that you shower and exfoliate the day prior to your tanning appointment (please also shave one day prior). Oil-based soaps should be avoided as well as any lotions after you shower before your tanning appointment because they tend to leave residue on the skin creating a barrier to the tanning solution. Exfoliating is very important because it allows the DHA (active ingredient that makes you tan) adhere to your skin better and will help your tan last longer. It is also important to schedule manicure/pedicures and/or waxing appointments before rather than after your tanning session. Never have nails appts after a tan in the same day. No way. Chemical removers are usually too strong to tan within 2 days.
What should I wear to my appointment?
It is best to wear dark loose fitting clothes and flip flops after your spray tan. When using a bronzer with spray tanning solutions, it is possible for some of the bronzer to rub off on clothing and/or sheets, however, it easily washes out in the laundry.
What should I wear during my treatment?
Ladies are welcome to wear as little or as much as you are comfortable with. We have disposable thongs, bandeaus and shower caps available for your convenience. Gentleman are required to wear underwear or swimwear.
How long does the appointment take?
Your appointment is set for 30 minutes, so it is very important to be punctual. The actual spraying is 5-7 minutes per body. The drying and setting powder is another 5 mins. We are usually in and out in 30 mins.
How long should I wait before I work out or shower?
With the Express tan, you must shower (without soap) sometime between 1-4 hours of your tanning session. 1 hour is a light glow, 2 hours is Light, 3 hours is Medium, and 4 hours rinsed off is a dark result. It maxes at 4 hours so after that it doesn’t keep going darker so some clients just sleep in it. After your shower rinse off you are in the clear! You can now work out and swim and play with no worry of messing up the development.
Why do you recommend showering without soap when selecting the Express tan?
Soap neutralizes the development of DHA. We strongly recommend just a warm water rinse so that your tan is able to obtain the full color. You may use a limited amount of soap if you sleep in your tan. The bronzer will be super stuck to your skin and a longer shower with soap is usually needed to get it all off.How long will my tan last?
This depends on several factors including your skin type, skin cycle, lifestyle, and care. It should last for a minimum of 7 days and has the potential to last 10-14 days. Moisturize all over daily to keep your skin hydrated. Also, try to avoid activities that speed up your skin’s natural exfoliation process such as long showers, baths, hot tubs, heavy sweating, and swimming in salt water as well as chlorine all tend to dry out your skin. This will increase your skin cell turnover making your tan fade sooner. To increase the longevity of your tan apply a Tan Extending Moisturizer or a Gradual Tan Lotion once a day which is specifically designed for sunless tanning. Both of these lotions have a tiny bit of DHA that will add a little more tan each day.
I have very fair skin, will an airbrush tan still look natural?
Yes. We customize a solution that will work with your specific skin tone. We suggest opting for a lighter shade for the first session. We will restore you to a light subtle glow and can gradually take you up to what you think is your perfect color. We have 2 undertones, cool & warm. The warm undertone is super deep brown result. The cool formula undertone is a golden tan. We often do a 50/50 mix so for fair tones so you get that golden natural tan with a smidge of brown to cut any extra gold that can easily show on fair fair skin.
Why does my face tan fade faster?
This is due to several reasons. First, facial skin is thinner than skin found on other parts of the body. The face is also more exposed to the environment and endures more frequent washing. In addition, anti-aging creams, astringents, makeup etc. tend to break it down. *Check out our new Facial Touché Elixir Mist! We have a new product to fix faded faces and hands through the week. It’s a must have.
Will my spray tan protect me from the sun?
No it does not, you will still need to wear an SPF.
Why do some sunless tans start to become patchy when they fade?
The active ingredient in airbrush tanning solution is DHA (dihydroxyacetone). The DHA reacts with the amino acids on the surface cells of the skin resulting in a “darkening” (aka tanning) effect. Therefore, as your skin goes through its natural exfoliation process, these skin cells shed and not every cell sheds at the same rate. You may have some “tanned” cells that remain or last longer than others. This has no correlation to the spray technique or the solution. The tan typically lasts 5-7 days and begins to fade as the top layer of skin cells naturally sheds. Keep in mind that this process tends to be a bit more noticeable when you choose a shade that is significantly darker than your natural skin color. However, you can usually counteract this by moisturizing with a heavy Moisturizer.
Will really dry skin affect my airbrush tan?
Dry skin may cause the tan to fade unevenly. If you have dry skin, we recommend that you moisturize twice a day for a week leading up to your tanning session and continue to moisturize each day post tanning session. We do suggest applying lotion to extremely dry areas on your skin before your session. Age spots that you normally don’t see are dry spots and will grab the tan so dot a bit of lotion on any scars, pigmentation area, or age spots to avoid them absorbing more color.
Is sunless tanning safe for pregnant and breastfeeding women?
Totally. Dha is an amino acid and mixes with your cells amino acids to brown. We use a gorgeous and safe solution which has zero fake dyes, no red40 which causes cancer and hyperactivity in children, or anything toxic! We spray LOTS of pregnant & breastfeeding Glam-mamas.
